Gaz O'Shea
ALEX'S TEAM (bibless) 11-8 ORANJE BIBS
Yay! I was on the winning team! Played as a holding midfielder & right back today. (Even though I was wearing my Rooney t-shirt!) Never in my life have I played as a defender. It's actually less tiring, and not as scary as playing upfront with 34973 guys trying to tackle you. And I get to tackle the boys...which is very scary too...especially the tall lanky guy. It was easier marking the shorter Asian guys. For most of the match, I was playing like Sheasy - I don't like staying at the back all the time. In the last 15 min. or so, I was Gaz. Or Sergio Ramos. Maybe more like Ramos, because of the hair. :P
My passing was shit today though, I couldn't find my teammates. And no attempts at goal either. But I learnt a lot about defending today.
I was on the team with the South Americans, I guess that's why we won! Alex (the organiser) is from Argentina, Lorenzo's from Columbia and then there's Drogba-dude (because of his frizzy hair and headband). They kept speaking in Spanish, and all I understood was "vamos". LOL. I'm glad Alex picked me in his team (he was probably just being nice), because no way in the world would I be able to defend against guys like them - they had SKILLS. *nods*
Injuries-wise - I was alright. The same right toe was stepped on when I was trying to tackle (ouch!), but I was well-prepared today. I wore toe-caps, the ones I used to wear with my pointe shoes! A few guys in the Bibs team were hurt though. One of the guys hurt his knee and was limping, and another had the ball kicked into his...where a guy hurts most. One guy had a cramped leg too.
