LOS Angeles Galaxy president Alexi Lalas has revealed exclusively to FOX SPORTS that he would "love to" bring the side that now includes David Beckham to Australia.

In an interview to screen on Total Football at 7.30pm tonight on FOX SPORTS 1, Lalas said he would have no hesitation in bringing the man his club will pay more than $1 million a week Down Under.

Lalas, who was instrumental in signing the Real Madrid and former Manchester United midfield player, was genuinely excited by the prospect of playing in Australia.

The former United States defender, who played in the 1994 World Cup his country hosted, will also reveal to viewers exactly what went on behind the scenes to snare Beckham in a world record $320 million deal and outline his hopes for Beckham, both on and off the field.

Lalas explained that the signing of Beckham was brought about after Major League Soccer, the domestic competition in the States, introduced a "designated player" rule similar to the A-League's marquee player policy that saw Beckham's former Manchester United teammate Dwight Yorke play in Australia for Sydney FC.

The "designated player" policy was implemented after the MLS spent time looking at the A-League as part of researching competitions around the world.
