International matchday Oct 7th
AUSTRALIA 1 - 1 PARAGUAY We almost won the match, with a header in the last minutes of the game by retiring Socceroo Tony Popovic. And then Beauchamp came on for Popovic, and almost immediately, he headed in an own goal that Schwarzer had no way of saving. Bresciano was my player of the match. Lucas Neill did alright too, as did Emerton. Can't say the same for most of the others. I'm not sure if we're suited to play in the 4-3-3 formation, we don't have wingers like Robben or van Persie (or even Cristiano) who have the pace and can go out wide and somehow wind back in to either provide or score.
BULGARIA 1 - 1 HOLLAND Very wet conditions, so it wasn't a spectalar match. Defence (mostly Ooijer) and midfield were rather poor. Kuyt injured his ankle, Babel (a winger) had to come in for him, and van Persie switched to centre forward (who later scored the equalizer). No Ruud, Huntelaar or Vennegoor. Van Basten is lucky that van Persie is such a talented player. Would Ruud consider coming back for the match against Albania? Hmm...
ENGLAND 0 - 0 MACEDONIA Sigh. Can't even beat Macedonia at home. England have a lot of work to do before the match against Croatia.
SWEDEN 2 - 0 SPAIN Spain needs Raul!
