trip down memory lane
It's late. Mind won't think. Shall type in broken sentences.
I just watched Lethal Weapon 4 - most people don't expect me to like that kinda stuff, but well...I do. I love the Lethal Weapon series, and the Die Hard series. Mel Gibson and Bruce Willis rock my socks. I also love playing Doom, Wolfenstein and Duke Nukem. ::holds tennis racket and swings it around pretending it to be a machine gun, with sound effects::
Watched 'nicu' (ER 10.12) again. Carter (with the ugg beard): "Hey Abby, you're going to be a great doctor."
Do any of you remember that beautiful song by Selena, called "Dreaming of You"? It was mentioned a few days ago at C&P as a Carby song. Anyway...I pulled out my File of Justice soundtrack, and watched the bonus VCD. If you've forgotten, "Dreaming of You" was played in the background when Sam was folding a heart out of a $100 note for Michael. Awww... Sam & Michael. And Cat (cool, professional, former-Flora I'm beginning to miss more and more). Sammi & Faye before they were mega-popstars. William So with short hair! Bobby Au Yeung when he still had hair! Bowie when he played cool evil villain characters. Ultra-cool cop cases with intense courtroom battles. I totally need to watch FOJ again. I wonder what on earth happened to TVB these days. ::sigh:: (note to self: must purchase all the FOJ series VCDs during trip to HK)
So after thinking about FOJ, my mind shifted to Untraceable Evidence. More cool, professional, former-Flora. Dr. Lip. TVB-version of Dr. Kay Scarpetta. I still think Flora and Bowie are one of the greatest on-screen couples ever in UE. (It wasn't nearly as good in Healing Hands though. They had that chemistry. I still remember bawling my eyes out when I finished watching UE, because Dr. Lip flew to Paris and Yuen couldn't make it and awww... I thought UE was a small, one-off TVB production back then, and didn't expect a sequel. Little did I know that UE was among the top 5 or so dramas (in terms of ratings) that year. I had finished year 9, and our family was taking our tri-annual trip to HK (Dec 1998) and I went to all those places where they filmed and argh...I had to leave on the day UE2 had their first promotion (which was on the other side of the airport), meaning I left the day before UE2 aired in HK. I missed meeting my pen pal from NY because she lost her phone book (?) and she got to meet Flora at a later UE2 promotion.
So why am I rambling on about this? I don't even know. It's now 6 years later, and I still haven't been to Boston, or anywhere in the States for that matter. And so much has happened in between. UE was the true beginning of my interest in anything science related and where I first encountered PCRs, pipettes and DNA profiling, and Flora was really the first person to sort of kick me in the ass. I totally didn't care about school almost flunked year 8, and I landed in 9S4 (second lowest Science class) the following year. I had that impression that Flora was a quiet studious girl (who was also a dancer), and so, I studied real hard in year 9, and got myself back into the top 2 science classes in year 10. And at that time I wanted to be Dr. Lip. When we studied the circulatory & excretory & other systems, I absolutely loved it cos I got to use a scalpel to dissect some poor sheep's heart & kidneys. And of course HH came along, followed by ER. Being a medical examiner was almost unrealistic, and undergraduate med was so difficult to get in, and I liked science too. So, combining UE & HH, ER & CSI, medicine & forensics - you get medical science. But it wasn't to be, because medical science isn't all those combined.
Gaahhh. I'm rambling again. Tis 1:15am already. In short, I miss the good old days when Flora played cool professional roles, wore nice casual clothes, had shoulder length hair with reddish-brownish highlights. I miss good TVB dramas from the good old days.
