DR. JONATHAN TRUMAN CARTER III
(from The Oprah Winfrey Show)
Every Thursday for ten years, nearly 30 million viewers have tuned in to watch Noah Wyle's character Dr. John Carter in action on the medical drama ER. On set filming this season's finale, Noah gives us the scoop on the chaotic five minutes before a trauma scene is shot.
"The trauma scenes are the hardest scenes we shoot," says Noah. "First, we read the dialogue to get a sense of the rhythm. After that, a real doctor walks us through so we behave like a doctor or nurse would. It takes five or six hours to do a two-minute trauma scene. The choreography, the pronunciation of the words, it's a tough process. By now I could have actually gotten a degree if I'd applied myself!"
The season finale of ER airs May 13 at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
