BACK...
Sorry for being traceless, and leaving you without a clue. I owe everyone an explanation.
My bro's PC short-circuited, and then the cable modem short-circuited too. That was on Friday 13th of Feb. Yep. Friday the 13th. My bro was in Melb at the time. Since it wasn't my PC, I really couldn't do much with it. So I waited till he came home on Feb 17th. And we figured out what went wrong at that time.
At first, we wanted to get the Optus people to replace the modem immediately, and use my PC to go online. But, what the heck, it costs $299 just to replace a modem!! Goodness... so we simply cancelled the broadband service altogether and reconnect again (with a new plan/contract) - which would cost cheaper to install, and have a download limit of 12GB instead of the previous 3GB. So, the Optus guy came the next day to disconnect the cable. But why did it take another 3 weeks to come back online again? You see, at Optus (and probably most companies in Australia), the guy who disconnects the cable comes from a different department from the guy who installs the cable. Crazy huh?
Don't ask me how I managed to survive without broadband for 3 weeks...haha... I only went to my friend's place twice (and he had dial-up connection...), to settle my 2004 re-enrolment and managed to win an auction on ebay.com.au (hence had to settle payment details). Other than that, I didn't touch computers for 3 weeks. I watched an awful lot of TV: Oprah, Jerry Springer, ER (yay!), the latest season of Sex and the City (where in ep. 3 Carrie Bradshaw wore the red with white polka dot Marc Jacobs dress!), Gilmore Girls, Survivor, What Not to Wear, American Idol, Extreme Makeover, Babar the Elephant, The Busy World of Richard Scarry...the list goes on!
I passed my driving test as well, and now I drive my mum to go grocery shopping and stuff, hehe! Went shopping as usual, and bought myself a pair of Camper buckle shoes...hehe... Got my new handphone - Nokia 6100. Met up with Pamela to collect the stuff she bought for me from SG: Converse army-print sneakers *grins*, my stationery (there really should be a Popular in Sydney...), a Ruud van Nistelrooy beanie toy, a Ruud poster titled "The Man with the Goalden Boot", and even stuff from her mother!
I have nearly finished writing out the entire musical score of the song dong de. I rearranged it for voice, piano, violin and cello. There'll be 160 bars altogether, and I only have 32 bars left. I'm quite excited, because although I keep playing the songs and music I learn by ear, I've never actually written anything down. Maybe the main tune, but never the entire score. Plus, this time, since my bro's PC blew, I can't even use our Motif7 or Cubase or the other stuff...I wrote it all out by hand!
So, school's in again. Today is day 3, and I have done one test already. Argh! It was tough too, studying for it was useless. So here are the subjects I'm taking this sem: Immunology (advanced), Microbial Genetics (advanced), Bacteria & Disease, Chinese for beginners and Graphics & Contemporary Society (GCS). That's right, I'm taking Chinese! Hahaha! Now I finally understand how pinyin works, and will learn how to read and write simplified Chinese (well, I already know that part, but want to quicken my pace). This is for Ting: wish you were doing GCS too - you're gonna love this course since you've always enjoyed graphic design. :)
That's all for now. Will blog more regularly since my technology-crisis is over...hehe...
