The world is becoming closer and closer...closer than you believe!

This morning, I was listening to my MD as I walked into the Microbiology tutorial. Simon asked me what I was listening to, so I said (haha, you know what I'm gonna say, right? :P ), "Chan Kit Yee." Simon paused for a moment, and he went, "oh, Kit Chan! When I was much younger I heard that song deng liu yau deng, and wow, it was so good!" Hee, I felt so proud of Kit!

Anyway, he went on, "I actually bought one of her albums...hmm...what's the name?"
Then I suggested, "Is it kit hiu?" (because I knew that was popular among Hongkongers).
Simon: "Yeah, that's the one! There was a song I really liked, what is it called? Hmm, what's the name of track 1?"
Me: "kit hiu"
Simon: "track 2?"
Me: "sut jong"
Simon: "track 3?"
Me: "fan lit"
Simon (looking at me strangely): "track 4?"
Me: "fan heung gu duk"
Simon: "Hahaha! sai lei (excellent in Canto)! Anyway, I'll go figure out which one it is later."

Then I routinely showed him the photo of Kit and me in my wallet. And he commented, "Wah, you guys know each other well, huh?"
Me: "Erm...uh...I guess you can say...well enough for me to pay $1000+ to see her in 2 weeks' time!"
Simon: "What?!"
Me: "Yeah, she's doing a musical in Singapore!"

Only then did Simon know I was a supporter. You see, Simon and I only knew each other this semester, because we had many classes together. He's this really funny, non-Ah Beng Hongkonger who keeps reminding me my eyes are too big!

Then he was reminded of someone who lived near him.
Simon: "There's this gal who lives near me, Erica, and the photo in her wallet, she was hugging this guy really tightly. I assumed it was her boyfriend. Then that gal was like, "No! It's Bowie Lam!" and I couldn't believe cos they really did look like a couple!"
Me: "Erica?! You know Erica?! The Bowie fan? She has this website on Bowie, right?"
Simon: "Huh, you know her too? Just because she has a website, hehehe..."

At that moment, I couldn't believe my ears. Erica! I knew of her from my days as a Flora fan (because she was one of those who liked Bowie and Flora as a pair). I couldn't believe she was Simon's neighbour! Erica types in the Bowie forum regularly, and has this major website on Bowie too. Plus, I almost met her last time Bowie came to Sydney back in 2000. It's incredible how everyone knows each other! It's that same feeling a few years ago when I realised this gal I've been talking to for a while in the Flora forum is actually my classmate! Or that same feeling when I realised Joanna lived about a block away from my cousin in Vancouver! Whoa! :)

I can't wait to meet Erica!
