Just an update on me (not Kit, hehe!)...
Recently I've been arranging my timetable for next semester. I had planned most of the subjects and stuff at the beginning of the year, except one general education course. Initially I wanted to take Practice and Performance in Music, but there were only night classes available. Then I tried The Art of Architecture *grins at Ting and Kelly!*, but I had a timetable clash. You see, I want to steer clear of science after taking 4 huge science subjects this semester. Then I found this one called Design in Performance, which was all about designing stage settings for various performances (whoa! design for Kit!!!)...too bad it was held at the Fine Arts campus only... Finally I chose one to fill up my 4-hour-break on Mondays - Creative Writing. Yep, after all those years of grumbling and cringing at the thought of essays, I'm gonna take Creative Writing. We'll see how it goes...
Today I was wearing the same top as Dorcas, except mine is the black version, and her one is the white one! It's that $10 Valentine top I got from Bossini, hehehe... Last Tuesday was the once-a-month Market Day down at the Roundhouse, so I went with Pamela since we finished anatomy lab early. She bought a few posters, and then we both bought socks! I got myself another pair of Betty Boop socks (hehe!) and the other pair, Pamela and I each got a pair - light blue with clouds and stars. Nice! Actually, I've been hanging out with Pamela quite a lot in the past few days. Arranging our timetable...choosing/swaping our majors. Now we're both gonna major in microbiology. Aside from that, we found we could get along quite well, always had so much to blab on about...our hate for PRCs and durians (hehehehe...), and just stuff in general... Maybe it's because she's Singaporean and she likes Kit too? :P Nah, we actually talk very little about Kit, hehehe... And talking to her gives me a chance to revise my Singlish and practise my Mandarin, hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!
I believe everyone should be able to speak their own languages. Too many times, I've met people who don't know a word of their mother tongue. To speak your own language is important, it's your culture, a part of you. It's sad, really. How hard would it be to communicate with parents and grandparents? What's worse is that those people aren't ashamed they can't speak it, and don't even attempt learn it. Another annoying thing is when one person from a whole group of friends complains she can't utter a word of Chinese/Cantonese (she's Malaysian-Chinese), and she makes a point of it when the rest of us spontaneously speak Canto. Why can't she adapt? At least TRY to learn the lingo, and stop complaining, right? Like, I picked up Mandarin so I could understand what Kit sings/says, and even learnt a bit of local slang while in Singapore to better communicate with the people.
Within one week, I completely changed my impression of 2 people. The biochemistry demonstrator, who usually is the pickiest and most pedantic, and only likes male students (sheesh!) treated us to a mini tea party this afternoon. After 12 weeks of thinking she was a complete witch, she showed some thought today. Another is the anatomy lecturer. Ever since day one, she came across to most of us as VERY arrogant...it was always "this is the way I do things...I'm doing this just for you so you better be thankful..." until Dorcas went to office recently and realised she was a very lovely mother, and had heaps of photos of her family all over her office; she's quite a family person.
That's all I can think of now.
Countdown: 3 months and 2 days!
