Speak Your Mind forum

Three years ago I literally belonged to this place. Three years on, I'm like laughing my head off reading the messages there... :P It's just so amusing updating myself on someone I had a totally different impression of three years ago.

Flora Chan is the best example I can give when I need to prove to people what the entertainment industry (especially in HK) does to the most innocent people. Oh yeah, don't forget about the HK media too! Those amazing papparazzi photos from Apple Daily and Sudden Weekly, the never-ending rumours about who's going out with who (even if it seems totally absurd), the obssession with female artists with slimming program endorsements (poor Kit must look like an elephant when standing next to HK artists! O_o ), and of course, the latest and "very gorgeous" *pukes* HK fashion (now I'm rolling on the floor laughing!). Hang on, I left out the typical very layered and very straightened orangy-brown hair everyone in HK seem to have, and oh gosh, if I had someone slap make-up on me like they slap on Flora, I think I'd be wearing a face mask all day (with my face feeling worse than a mud cake!)... Do check out the forum to truly understand what I mean.

Flora is a "product" of the HK entertainment industry.

Now, imagine Flora didn't go to HK and acted, she would not have divorced her husband (who's a professor by the way), and she may have become a credible anchor on a leading news channel back in the States. Maybe she wouldn't have suffered Meniere's disease back in 1999, and wouldn't have been forced to slim down on her already slim body. She wouldn't be in a SARS-affected place right now.

Is she leading a happy life now that she's a celebrity? Is she living her dreams?

Goodness me, I used to think of her as inspirational?! *faints*

Lola is a medical scientist, music teacher, hoping to be a forensic pathologist one day, Catholic, neat freak... She worships Dana Scully from The X-Files and Kay Scarpetta from Patricia Cornwell's novels. And she loves football. (background by Kess)
