I love it when I get really involved when I watch TV. It is easier to get deep into the act when watching movies or musicals, but not with a weekly TV drama. ER never fails to give me that opportunity, whether it is to become emotionally involved, or to gain further knowledge in the field of medicine.
Tonight's episode, First Snowfall, was one of those emotionally-overwhelming episodes. A man with an extremely high BAC nearly kills an entire family building a snowman. The mother dies, one of the son is brain dead, and the father signs on to donate that son's heart and lungs to his other son. Dr. Corday offers sympathy to the father by sharing her personal experience of how she lived on when Dr. Greene, her husband, dies of a brain tumour.
Maura Tierney, who plays Abby Lockhart, put on a dazzling, Emmy-Award-winning performance. I really do hope that she receives an Emmy Award this year.
