Whoa....haven't blogged for a long time!
Hee...today I made my first ever vocal recording! Wow...I'm overwhelmed by the experience!
I had do a recording (piano and voice) for this psalm for church, because I was the only one who knew it well enough. The piano recording was no problem, I've done heaps of piano recordings before. But vocal recordings...oh man.... OK. I am no Kit Chan. No where near Kit in fact (my voice is more hmm....not at all suitable for pop music because it's so weak. My voice is more suitable for Charlotte Church or Sarah Brightman). But hee, I'm surprised, I was better than I expected! Better than Stefanie Sun at the very least! Yay! Hahaha!!!! But it is a rather strange experience to hear my own singing. Previously, I listened to myself sing Waiting, a live performance of it (was this thing for my mum's workplace...). Anyway, why on earth did I choose to sing something difficult like that, I don't know! No where near Kit's voice!
So yeah, today was my first ever vocal recording. My bro was the recording engineer. He uses Rode's NT1000 mic, and used Steinberg's Cubase VST32 (v. 5.0) to mix and stuff... Did you know that Case Woo uses Cubase as well? That means he used Cubase for Dreamscape! Too bad I don't have the money for a Shure recording mic... I think I might just have enough money for a lower grade Shure performing mic (SM 58). But I would love to own Shure BETA 58A, which is the one Kit uses! Haha! Actually, many artists all around the world use BETA 58A too. It's really the best performing mic there is!
I wish I had the time for singing lessons. I really do need a voice coach. I'm lacking dynamics and articulation in my voice; those are so evident in Kit's singing. But argh, what the hell, why am I even comparing myself to a professional who's been in the business for almost 10 yrs? Hee...
